Can You Be Depressed and Not Know It? My Story

Hey Mocha Family, Lately I want to sing, "I can see clearly now the rain is gone! I can see all the obstacles in my way!" I had no idea I was struggling so much until the struggle was gone.  How can a person be depressed and not know it?  Looking back, the depression is obvious, but at the time I found so many other plausible explanations. Recording this video caused me a measure of discomfort.  I'm a recovering perfectionist who is learning to embrace weakness.  I'm hoping that by sharing my story someone else can find the freedom by getting help.  I thought I had to accept my symptoms because I'm getting older.  What a lie!  My best years are possibly ahead! Be blessed!

9 Month Lock Update | What I am Learning in the Teenage Lock Stage

Hey Mocha Family, I get a little introspective during this video, but I really wanted to talk about where my hair peace comes from.  I have noticed that once we reach our natural hair goals, and master working with our hair, we can get bored.  I am very familiar with that restless feeling of wanting a change or being tired of the routine and styling patterns we've established.  The flip side may be struggling to ever come to a place of satisfaction with grooming and styling and concluding that natural hair just isn't working.  I'd like to save anyone who is struggling the trouble of making the mistakes I did.  At the end of the day, I prefer my natural hair even when it has meant transitioning and big chopping multiple times. I hope you enjoy the video! Be blessed!

Be blessed!

Does Intermittent Fasting Work? My Story

Hey Mocha Family, Have you ever heard insanity defined as doing the same thing over and over, while expecting a different result?  That was me. Despite my troubling symptoms, I continued to eat in the same way day by day. I am so grateful for our yearly progressive fast (every January), and finally being able to consider the possibility that I should try something radically different. Intermittent fasting is being discussed regularly on Youtube.  I was able to find a slew of videos along with articles online.  In fact, the volume of information may be overwhelming.  Since January, I've been trying a number of variations of when to eat and fast.  I have finally found my sweet spot.  I share about it all candidly in this longer than usual video. Initially, I was hesitant to reveal so much because of the controversy around choosing not to eat.  As a social work professional, I know all about eating disorders and the dangers of developing a distorted body image.  My journey is ab
